RIVER FORKS INN (Historic Stage Stop) This beautiful stone and log structure has been instrumental in preserving the legacy of the River Forks Hotel, renamed the River Forks Inn when it reopened after the 1976 Big Thompson Canyon Flood. Prior to 1909, the Forks was a stop for the stagecoach and other horse drawn carriages traveling between Loveland and Estes Park. Passengers would stop for food at the restaurant, and the stage driver would change horses at the stables. The flood of 1976 resulted in several feet of water in the first floor the hotel. The west end of the building so badly damaged that a complete reconstruction was done. In September, 2004, the property was purchased by william E Jones DVM and his wife Ann. They have been busy restoring and fixing the damaged parts of the hotel. They invite everyone to come back and enjoy a week-end stay at the newly remodeled River Forks Inn.
